Billie and Henry

Sometimes it is good to get out of your comfort zone, right? So I thought I’d give it a go with English being my second language (pardon my French!) and start my Blog by sharing with you with spectacular wedding at the beautiful Rivervale Barn I was honoured to provide florals for. This stunning venue has a special charm, located on the border of Hampshire and Berkshire, literally 5 minutes away from where my Studio is based.

This adorable couple approached me a year ahead of their wedding.  After asking them if they are local –  they both replied “Nope, but completely in love with the venue!” and now I know why they chose it. Their brief was very clear – romantic and mysterious theme and a great day fulfilled with surprises. An owl as a ring bearer? – yes, please!

The weather was glorious for the end of October. The couple were very keen on having the Ceremony outdoors as the venue provides an amazing space for it offering unlimited options for the florals which were one of the priorities for B&H.

Back in March 2023 I met a couple in person at the venue to have a good look around together, explore the floral options and give them a better feel of the space and light.

It is always helpful to use this opportunity to discuss the florals in all the details and talk through how can me maximise the florals. Repurpose, rotate, relocate! Call it whatever,  but please do this on your wedding day!

No matter how proud you are of your own floristry (which I am haha!) it is always a nerve-racking moment when the bride sees her bouquet for the first time. Especially if the this is as something spectacular as Billie’s bouquet. It included over 40 varieties of flowers and types of foliage with addition of the crystals (that the bride selected and provided for) to be to incorporate in the bouquet. It was something special and really was a reflection of Billie’s ideas and how she wanted to feel on her wedding day!

The florals meant to complement and blend in to the natural beauty of the Rivervale Barn surroundings and have an additional kick with a darker, more dramatic foliage.

I suggested the broken floral arch and two large arrangements on the plinths as we can maximise our flowers after the ceremony and move them all in the main barn for the Wedding Breakfast.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall and be a witness of this special intimate ceremony. The venue kindly offered to relocate the flowers after, so I didn’t need to stay. The couple had Ann additional floral mandate located behind the head table to create a fantastic backdrop for the special meal and the speeches.

I suppose, something I am proud of in my work is that I always try to build the relationship with every couple to understand exactly what they have in mind when it comes to florals. No matter how big or small the wedding is, it is always unique and memorable for me as well as my Team who I wouldn’t be able to survive without, they are my rock and have been for years.
